How to Connect Your Domain Name to Your Web Hosting

Assuming that you already have already purchased your Domain Name and Web Hosting

  1. Domain Name is already Purchased

You should have your own domain purchased before connecting your host. See this link if you don’t have a domain name Steps on How to Register a Domain Name to find out how you can register your own domain.

  2. You Already Have a Web Hosting Account

A web host is a company that will hold the content of your website. When you upload your web pages on their host, the world will be able to connect and see your content. You will need to have an account with the web host provider of your choice. Just to mention we provide a great hosting plan that will support and give your business website an edge. Connect Your Domain Name to Your Web Hosting

  1. Get the Host’s Name Servers

The first thing you’ll need to do is to find out the list of “Name Servers” used by your web host.
A fast way is to look for the information in either the email sent to you by your host, or from the documentation on your web host’s site. Here is an example of a “Name Server” ns1.example.com, ns2.example.com

  2. Add the Name Servers into Your Registrar’s Settings for Your Domain

Log in to your domain registrar, look for some option to set your domain’s name servers or change them. Every registrar has a different way of doing this task, there is no standard method. So it’s not possible for me to give you a detailed information of how to get to the appropriate page.

Here are the following instructions to connect your domain name to your web hosting

    • Go to the page where you can see “My Domains” page or “Domain Manager” to list all your domain
    • Choose the domain that you want to connect to your web hosting. If you only have one domain name, you may even be able to click the domain name to get to the settings screen.
    • Most of the registrars have “Manage DNS” menu link, or “DNS” button, or “Nameservers” button. If you see such a link or button, that’s most likely the one that you will need to click.
